SPORTS FISHING LICENSE is required by the Alaska Division of Fish & Game's License & Permits to individuals to fish in Alaska. Residents and nonresidents under the age of 16 do not need to purchase a sport fishing license. In addition to fishing license King Salmon Tag is also required to fish for king salmon in Alaska. Both fishing license and king salmon tag are required to attend the NOCP workshop. Below are the fees to obtain sports fishing license for non-Alaska residents. (Licenses can be purchased online or in Kodiak.) For 2010 NOCP: $145 sports fishing license and $50 king salmon tag. Frequently Asked Questions: - NOCP Fishing License Q: Why the license? A: It is required by the Alaska Division of Fish and Games (ADFG). Alaskans livelihood depends on the ocean and river resources. The state government protects the ocean to make sure that their livelihood continues to exists.
Q: How strict is ADFG? What if an inspector will find out that I do not have a license while fishing? A: Very strict! If get caught you will get a penalty ticket ($$$)... and guilt.
